The materials gathered here are part of the rich archives in custody of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Centre for Research on Romanian Jewry. They have never been published, the present edition is the only place so far, hence its importance for those interested in documentary history of the interwar era, the problem of anti-Semitism in Romania and political involvement of important authors, intellectuals' migration, the Hebrew and Romanian exile press. Transcription, translation and editing of letters respects current rules but kept original headers and titles (variously in English, French, German or Hebrew) for works cited in the letters included here
